Abstract: I will report a recent progress on the sharp stability of  a class of explicit solutions of the 2D incompressible Euler equation in a disk. The stream functions of these solutions are expressed in terms of Bessel functions of the first kind, and include the second eigenfunctions of the Dirichlet Laplacian as a special case. The key ingredients of the proof include Burton's stability criterion, some variational arguments, and the equimeasurable partition of a three-dimensional function space.
